Studio Yun began with a conversation.
Not with a business plan or a collection, but with two makers—Yun and Yuan—drawn together by a shared love of art, clay, and the quiet pleasure of making by hand.
We didn't set out to make functional ware.
We began with curiosity. Clay became a way of exploring ideas, asking questions, and learning through the process of making. Over time, those conversations became a practice, and that practice became Studio Yun.
Two makers. Two perspectives.
Living between cultures has shaped the way we see and make. Every piece carries the trace of two sets of hands, where tradition meets contemporary life, and precision is balanced with the individuality of the handmade.
Small batches.
Everything is made by hand in our Orewa studio. We work in small batches, allowing each collection to evolve naturally through observation, refinement, and time. Every piece is part of an ongoing journey rather than a finished destination.

We believe the objects we use every day quietly shape the way we live. Our hope is that each piece feels natural in your hands, becomes part of your daily rituals, and gathers its own story over time.

Shaped after a single length of bamboo, this cup is drawn in at the waist by one raised node — the joint where a living bamboo stem gathers itself before it grows on. That node is the heart of the piece: it catches the glaze a shade darker, gives your fingers somewhere to settle, and makes the cup feel steady in the hand.
The glaze is a soft, misty sea-green that pools and breaks as it runs — deeper in the hollows, pale over the ridges, like coastal mist settling over green water. Inside, it gathers at the base in a slow spiral, holding the rhythm of the wheel.
Light to lift and generous at 300 ml, it is made for everyday life — a morning coffee or a long afternoon of tea. Each one is stackable, so a pair or set nests neatly together.

Bow Handle Mug — White Collection
Made to be held. The bow handle's two loops are sized for your index and middle finger to slip through, so the mug sits balanced in your hand and lifts without effort.
The form is simple and considered — a softly curved body rising to an open rim, set on a small foot. Finished in a white matte glaze, smooth and quiet to the touch.
